Saudi Arabia Implements New Regulations For Fuel Stations And Service Centers To Align With Global Standards
Category: Saudi Arabia

In a significant move, the Saudi Permanent Executive Committee for Fuel Stations and Service Centers has introduced updated terms and conditions to enhance the regulation of the sector and bring it in line with global developments and standards in the energy sector. The primary objective is to fulfill the goals outlined in Vision 2030, emphasizing the transformation and growth of this vital sector.

The committee emphasized that the updated requirements play a crucial role in overseeing the establishment, management, operation, and maintenance of fuel stations and service centers. Key aspects include ensuring that qualified facilities manage and operate fuel stations, specifying distances between urban and non-urban gas stations, and setting standards for pumps, tanks, cleanliness, maintenance, quality, and product provision.

Under the updated terms, existing stations are granted a corrective period of 12 months from the date of publication, with exceptions outlined in the requirements, excluding site requirements and station location distances.

This decision, spearheaded by the Ministry of Energy, involves collaboration with various ministries, including Commerce, Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, Interior (represented by the General Directorate of Civil Defense), Tourism, Transport and Logistics, Human Resources and Social Development, Media, Finance, and Environment, Water, and Agriculture (represented by the National Center for Environmental Compliance).
