The National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has made significant progress in its efforts to combat desertification, completing the first phase of a project to assess land degradation across Saudi Arabia. This phase resulted in the creation of 246 detailed maps that offer valuable insights into desertification trends and the current state of land degradation in various regions.

Field Surveys and Research: NCVC teams conducted extensive field surveys and research to understand desertification processes and land degradation, identifying effective combat strategies.

Technological Integration: The project utilized cutting-edge technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing techniques, and traditional field surveys to gather comprehensive data. This included soil sample collection, plant life studies, and satellite imagery analysis.

Second Phase Launch: The second phase of the project has commenced in the Riyadh region. This phase aims to identify desertification hotspots, classify the causes and types of land degradation, and conduct further detailed field surveys.
