The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia has taken a significant step towards facilitating the Umrah pilgrimage by introducing electronic visas. This initiative aims to attract more Muslims from around the world and streamline the procedures involved, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. With a focus on enhancing the quality of Umrah services, the ministry aims to provide a seamless experience for pilgrims.
To apply for the e-visas, interested individuals can submit their applications through the Nusuk platform: https://www.nusuk.sa/ar/about. Once approved, they can plan their arrival in the Kingdom, with the program set to begin accepting applicants from July 19 onwards.
The Nusuk platform serves as a comprehensive portal for Muslims worldwide, offering assistance in arranging accommodation, transportation, and residences for their visit to Makkah and Madinah. It also provides valuable information in multiple languages, including interactive maps and enriching content, ensuring a fulfilling and informative pilgrimage.
In a bid to facilitate the process further, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has collaborated with relevant authorities to allow holders of tourist visas from the Gulf Cooperation Council of Arab states and Schengen visa holders to book Umrah appointments through the Nusk application.
Moreover, the ministry has introduced measures to assist individuals with different types of visas. These efforts are part of recent legislation that aims to improve the overall experience for Umrah performers. Notably, insurance fees for Umrah have been significantly reduced by 63%, ensuring affordable access to health services while maintaining their quality. Additionally, the issuance of Umrah visas has been expedited to less than 24 hours, and the duration of the visa has been extended from 30 days to 90 days, all without imposing any health requirements.
The updated procedures for Umrah also bring positive changes for women. They are now permitted to perform Umrah without a male guardian (mahram), allowing them greater flexibility and independence in fulfilling their religious obligations. Furthermore, Umrah performers can explore the unique cultural sites across the Kingdom, enriching their religious and cultural experiences and gaining a deeper understanding of Saudi Arabia's cultural diversity.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's commitment to enhancing the Umrah experience reflects its dedication to providing a seamless and inclusive pilgrimage for Muslims worldwide. With the introduction of electronic visas and the various facilities offered, Saudi Arabia reaffirms its position as a welcoming destination for spiritual journeys, ensuring that pilgrims have an unforgettable and enriching experience in the birthplace of Islam.
