The Ministry of Interior, through the General Directorate of Traffic, announced amendments to Article 74 of the Traffic Law’s executive regulations, in cooperation with other authorities. These changes introduce stricter penalties for dangerous violations that put public safety at risk.

Royal Decree Approval

The amendments were approved by Royal Decree No. M/50 issued on 2/3/1447 AH. Article 74 focuses on traffic violations considered hazardous to public safety, granting new powers for enforcement.

Key Amendments

• The Ministry of Interior can deport non-Saudis if a final court ruling convicts them of serious traffic violations.

• Deported individuals will be banned from reentering Saudi Arabia, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, and Public Prosecution.

• Executive regulations will define cases where foreign drivers may be exempt from deportation.

Penalties for Repeat Violations

• Second offense within one year: The violator will face the maximum fine.

• Third offense within the same year: The case will be referred to a competent court, which may impose up to one year in prison or double the fine from the second offense.
