A Dhaka-bound Saudi Airlines flight had a narrow escape from disaster when its nose landing gear failed to function while landing at Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport on Monday.
The A330 Airbus flying with 141 passengers and 10 crew members from the holy city of Madinah to Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka had to change its course and make a landing at Jeddah airport because of some technical malfunctioning in its hydraulic system.
“A technical malfunction in the hydraulic system of flight No. 3818 from Madinah to Dhaka was detected at 8 p.m. and while attempting to land at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah, the nose gear could not be released. After several unsuccessful attempts, the captain of the aircraft decided to land without the nose wheels and it landed with all passengers safe,” Spokesman of Saudi Arabian Airlines Abdulrahman Al-Tayeb said.
An investigation on the accident is underway. It is learned that the plane is on lease.
