Category: Saudi Arabia

In the holy city of Medina, home of the Prophet Mohammed's Mosque, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman has announced the launch of infrastructure works and a master plan.

The Rua Al Madinah Project is part of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) that aims to develop promising sectors in the kingdom in line with Saudi Vision 2030, an ambitious development plan, according to the Saudi news agency SPA.

Rua Al Madinah Holding, a firm fully owned by the Public Investment Fund, developed and implemented the project.

According to Prince Mohammad, PIF's chairman, the project will facilitate the hosting of 30 million Umrah pilgrims by 2030 as part of Saudi Vision 2030, and will be implemented in accordance with international standards to improve the services offered to pilgrims in Medina.

The project aims to build 47,000 hotel rooms by 2030 on an area of 1.5 million square metres.

The Prophet's Mosque will be easily accessible to visitors thanks to 63 percent of this area being designated as open and green space.

In addition to nine stops for visitors’ buses, a metro station, a route for self-driving cars, and underground parking areas, the project will be designed according to the highest world standards. This will facilitate visitors' movement, stimulate residential and commercial activity, and create jobs.

This project aims to improve life quality and comfort for residents and visitors to Medina, a major Saudi Arabian destination for Muslims.
