Riyadh Installs Nameplates Honoring Saudi Imams And Kings

Riyadh Municipality has begun installing road signs and nameplates for 15 major squares in the capital, honoring the imams and kings of Saudi Arabia.

Royal Directive Behind the Initiative

This comes following a directive from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and based on a proposal by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

Preserving National Heritage and Identity

The initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s Founding Day celebrations on February 22, emphasizing the leadership’s commitment to preserving national heritage and honoring figures who played a pivotal role in Saudi Arabia’s foundation, unification, and development over the past three centuries.

Swift Implementation by Riyadh Municipality

Field teams from Riyadh Municipality immediately began installing signage and updating directional markers to reflect the new names, ensuring swift implementation of the initiative.

Contribution to Vision 2030 Goals

The move is part of Riyadh Municipality’s broader strategy to enhance national identity in public spaces and contribute to the objectives of Vision 2030, which seeks to highlight Saudi Arabia’s rich history and cultural values.

Honoring Saudi Imams and Kings

The designated squares, situated along major roads, will bear the names of influential leaders, including:

  • Imam Mohammed bin Saud
  • Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed
  • Imam Saud bin Abdulaziz
  • Imam Abdullah bin Saud
  • Imam Turki bin Abdullah
  • Imam Faisal bin Turki
  • Imam Abdullah bin Faisal
  • Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal

Additionally, Saudi kings who shaped the modern state will be commemorated, including:

  • King Abdulaziz
  • King Saud
  • King Faisal
  • King Khalid
  • King Fahd
  • King Abdullah
  • King Salman
