Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan will attend the third edition of Future Investment Initiative (FII), which will take place in Riyadh from Oct. 29-31, officials confirmed Friday. The prime minister will be accompanied by top government officials and businesspeople.
The theme of FII 2019 is “What's Next for Global Business?” The event's PR material promises to bring together "decision-makers, leading investors and global experts to explore future economic trends and opportunities, shed light on the future of industries, and discuss how investors can continue to drive overall global prosperity and development."
Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told Arab News on Friday that Khan "tentatively planned" to attend the conference but that details were yet to be confirmed.
The chairman of the Pak-Saudi Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mian Mehmood, “Tentatively, the prime minister, finance minister and other officials are scheduled to participate in FII 2019 along with business delegations.”
Circulars have also been issued to members of the business community notifying them of the opportunity to participate in the conference, said Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, senior vice president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry.
The Pakistani premier took part in last year’s FII, speaking about the economic opportunities that Pakistan offered and inviting investors to his country.
