OIC Convenes Emergency Meeting To Address Burning Of Holy Qur'an In Sweden
Category: Saudi Arabia

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is set to hold an urgent meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss the burning of a copy of the Holy Qur'an in Sweden. This condemnable act has drawn strong condemnation from the OIC, the Muslim World League (MWL), and the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID). The meeting aims to address the repercussions of this incident and formulate a collective response to combat such heinous acts.

The OIC has accepted an invitation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the President of the Islamic Summit to convene an emergency open meeting for the Executive Committee. The meeting, scheduled to take place at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah, will focus on discussing the burning of the Holy Qur'an that occurred in Sweden during Eid Al-Adha.

This act of desecration, carried out by an extremist at the Stockholm Central Mosque, has invoked widespread condemnation. The OIC, in a press release, expressed deep concern over these repeated attacks, emphasizing the violation of the sanctity of the Holy Qur'an and Islamic values.

The meeting will serve as a platform to discuss appropriate measures to be taken in response to this heinous act. The OIC aims to establish a collective stance against such acts of provocation and ensure that necessary actions are implemented to address this grave issue.

In addition to the OIC's response, the Muslim World League (MWL) has vehemently denounced the burning of the Holy Qur'an in Stockholm. The MWL's Secretary-General, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, strongly criticized this crime, which was carried out under the pretext of freedom of expression. Dr. Al-Issa highlighted the abuse of freedom and called for respect and restraint when it comes to others' beliefs.

Dr. Al-Issa further warned about the dangerous consequences of such acts, which fuel hatred, incite religious sentiments, and serve extremist agendas. The MWL stands united in denouncing this disgraceful act, particularly during the blessed occasion of Eid Al-Adha.

Meanwhile, the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) expressed profound regret regarding the burning of the Holy Qur'an in Stockholm. The KAICIID stressed the importance of respecting the beliefs and sanctities of others, emphasizing the significance of human rights as defined by international conventions and laws.

The OIC's emergency meeting, along with the strong condemnation from the MWL and the KAICIID, demonstrates the unity and solidarity among Islamic organizations in addressing the burning of the Holy Qur'an. These organizations emphasize the sanctity of religious texts, promote mutual respect, and reject acts that provoke religious sentiments. By collectively addressing this issue, they aim to uphold human rights, foster understanding, and combat extremism.
