Medina Districts Will Not Be Razed For Redevelopment

Social media reports claiming some residential districts will be removed as part of new development projects in Saudi Arabia's holy city of Medina have been denied by authorities.
Medina municipality says that none of these rumours are true. “New development projects are announced via the official platforms of all government in Medina,” they added on Twitter.
17 new housing schemes totaling 2.2 million square meters were approved by the city's authorities in mid-August.
A total of 2,932 residential units, 16 schools, 21 public gardens, 23 mosques, and a set of public utilities are included in the plans.
A major pilgrimage destination in Saudi Arabia is Medina, home to the Prophet Mohammed's Mosque.
