India Extends Ban On Scheduled International Flights Till 30th September

Indian government has extended its ban on scheduled international flights to and from India till 30th September, 2021, announced the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

However, The DGCA clarified that international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case to case basis.

- The ban on international scheduled commercial flights was about to end on 31st August, 2021, after a 17-month gap. International flights suspended in India since 23rd March, 2020 due to Corona virus pandemic.

- Later Indian government started Vande Bharat Mission in May 2020 to bring the Indian people stuck outside the country and established bilateral air-bubbles with some countries from July 2020.

- The DGCA added that dedicated cargo and flights under bilateral air bubble pacts with selected countries will continue to operate. The restriction was not applicable to international all-cargo flights approved by DGCA.

- India has formed air bubble pacts with nearly 25 countries including United States, United Kingdom, Untied Arab Emirates, Kenya, Bhutan and France. Under air-bubble pact, 2 countries can operate special international flights between them by their airlines and their territories.
