In Saudi Arabia, Pupils Will Be Sent To Courts For Blasphemy
Category: Crime News

According to a local newspaper, Saudi Arabia's education authorities have warned students against displaying blasphemy in examination papers, saying legal action will be taken, including sending them to court.

According to the Education Ministry, if the student's answer sheet contained an insult to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), or his companions, or contempt for Islam, and if the act of blasphemy is verified, the student's exam would be canceled, and Okaz said the offender would be considered a failure that year and taken to court.

Moreover, the ministry has stated in an explanatory memorandum on the new academic year's student evaluation rules that if the student's answer sheet contains offensive remarks other than those mentioned above, a report will be made, the parent will be notified, and the student's test will not be scrapped unless a written pledge of non-repetition is made. In this instance, the student would be referred to a guidance committee to look into his case if the need arises according to conduct rules, it added without elaborating.

Late last month, Saudi Arabia's new school year began.
