In the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, a five-year-old boy died after being left inside a rented private school bus on Sunday. As a result of the bus driver's alleged forgetfulness, Hassan Hashim Al-Shoala died of suffocation. An investigation into the tragedy has been launched by the security and education authorities in the region.

As a result of the mishap, the driver locked up and left the bus without confirming that all the students had left. According to Okaz/Saudi Gazette, the kindergartner died of suffocation after being left inside the bus unnoticed by his driver.

As a result of the driver's forgetfulness, the mishap happened because he failed to ensure that there were no students in the bus before locking it up, according to Education Department spokesman Saeed Al-Bahes.

Under the close supervision of its Director Dr. Sami Al-Otaibi, the Education Department in the region has formed a working team to conduct investigations into all aspects of the tragedy.

Al-Bahes expressed deep sorrow over the death of the student and offered condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of the entire education community in the Eastern Province.
