Dr. Awrad Mohammed Nasrallah, a Saudi physician and scholarship recipient, is being applauded for her life-saving intervention on an Air Canada flight after a passenger lost consciousness. She recently shared her experience with Arab News, explaining how she identified herself as a medical professional to the cabin crew when they requested medical assistance onboard.

Nasrallah swiftly intervened, administering first aid until the passenger was entirely conscious again. She revealed that the individual was experiencing hypotension, which she treated by administering an intravenous fluid until he slowly regained consciousness. She confirmed that there was no need for an emergency landing, as the Canadian flight crew maintained direct communication with ground medical teams who sanctioned her treatment approach.

Highlighting her responsibility as a healthcare provider, Nasrallah stressed her obligation to assist anyone in need. Having spent over half a decade in Canada, she emphasized the doctors' shared mission to serve all humanity. She expressed gratitude for her training in general surgery at the University of Alberta, which prepared her to handle such emergencies.

Nasrallah's heroic act was recognized by the Saudi cultural attache in Canada, who awarded her a certificate of appreciation not only for her assistance during the flight but also for her academic excellence.

Moreover, her outstanding performance and supervision of medical students and newly-qualified doctors have put her among the top 10 resident doctors in the University of Alberta’s surgery department.
