The General Traffic Department, known as Moroor, in Saudi Arabia has provided clarity on the rules and regulations governing foreign drivers employed in the Kingdom.

According to Moroor's official communication via Twitter:

. Anyone hired as a driver in Saudi Arabia can operate a vehicle using a valid foreign driving license issued by their home country for up to 3 months. The license must be professionally translated by a recognized agency and match the type of vehicle being driven.

. Foreign visitors to Saudi Arabia are allowed to drive using a valid international or foreign driving license for a maximum of 1 year, starting from their entry into the Kingdom or until the license expires, whichever comes first.

In addition to these guidelines, Moroor has emphasized the importance of safe driving practices and adherence to traffic rules. The use of mobile phones while driving has been cautioned against due to the inherent risks it poses. This practice can lead to a lack of safety distance from other vehicles, disregard of road signs and warnings, and a host of other safety hazards.

Driving while distracted by a cell phone can result in speed fluctuations, inattentiveness to other vehicles and pedestrians, sudden hazards, and failure to stay within designated lanes.

Moroor also encourages drivers to follow designated turning lanes and avoid overtaking other vehicles, contributing to organized and secure traffic flow.

Moroor's guidelines regarding foreign drivers in Saudi Arabia are essential for promoting road safety and maintaining order on the Kingdom's roads. These regulations ensure that both foreign drivers and visitors comply with the necessary rules for a safe and secure driving experience.
