Floor Mops Busted With Over 2 Million Drug Tablets In Saudi Arabia

An official has said that Saudi Arabia's anti-drug police foiled an attempt to smuggle 2.25 million amphetamine tablets concealed in floor mops.

Saudi General Directorate of Narcotics Control spokesman Major Mohammed Al Nujaidi said the haul was hidden inside a shipment of floor mops at the Red Sea port of Jeddah.

Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority had coordinated the seizure.

According to Saudi news agency SPA, a Syrian resident in Riyadh was arrested in connection with the thwarted smuggling attempt.

Earlier this week, Saudi authorities announced they had foiled an attempt to smuggle 1.1 million narcotic drugs hidden inside a shipment of toys, clothes, and other merchandise at the Jeddah port. Five suspects were arrested.
