Saudi government implemented dependents fee on all Saudi Expats as a new development plan. The kingdom’s finance ministry has said the fee charged on expatriates in Saudi Arabia will continue as planned.Saudi passport department(jawazat) has said that renewal of Iqama will only be done when dependent fees is fully paid.Saudi currently levies an expatriate fee on companies and as well as a dependents fee on foreign nationals. The fee ondependents was introduced in July 2017, and required expatriates to pay SAR100 per month for each of their dependents at visa renewal. The fee doubled to SAR200 a month in 2018, rising to SAR300 in 2019 and is slated to reach SAR400 in 2020.
Several people thought that their stay inclusive of their family was extened for three months in march 2020 and again extened to three months without any fees.so they have to pay fees for next six months only. But Saudi Jawazat denied this assumption by saying that people has misinterupted this Iqama will only be renewed only when full dependent fees is paid i.e. for 12 months.
Saudi Passport department has issued a regular chart which explains the procedure of collecting dependent fees from Expats.Dependent fees has to be taken in advance, at the time of iqama renewal
