YouTube Is Requested To Remove Inappropriate Adverts By Saudi Arabia
Category: Saudi Arabia

According to local media, Saudi Arabia has requested YouTube delete offensive ads that have gone viral recently.

An announcement issued yesterday (Saturday) by CITC and GCAM noted that "inappropriate ads" have been spreading widely on YouTube that contradict Islamic values and principles, and violate the Kingdom's media content guidelines.

The statement continued, "We have requested that YouTube eliminate all of these adverts and adhere to the nation's rules."

Using media regulations, we will take necessary legal measures if the platform continues to broadcast unlawful content," the statement says.

Saudi law punishes the production, preparation, transmission, or storage of material that impinges on public order, religious values, public morals, or privacy online with five years of prison and SR3 million in fines or both. Preparing, publishing, or promoting material for pornographic networks or gambling activities is also punishable.
