After being persuaded to return to her home country after three years in Germany, young Saudi woman Wissam Al Suwailmi contacted the Kingdom's embassy in Berlin, local media reported.
Wissam fled Saudi Arabia to Germany in 2019 due to problems and domestic abuse, and retired Saudi artist Fayez Al Maliki persuaded her to return home by pledging to secure her at the Saudi embassy.
He tried to reassure her, saying she "will get all the support and security necessary from Saudi authorities" during a two-hour live broadcast with Wissam.
She appeared in a video in which she described her experiences in Germany where she was harassed, subjected to racism and verbal and physical abuse. In exile in Germany, she said, it was like hell. She wished she remained in prison in her home country rather than be in a prison in exile filled with mental illness, anxiety, and fear.
Her family's home in Arar, the capital of Northern Borders Province in Saudi Arabia, was the scene of years of abuse. Wissam fled to Germany hoping to live in peace there after years of abuse.
