Tawakkalna won the United Nations Public Service Award 2022 for its innovative response to the Corona pandemic.

It confirms Saudi Arabia's leadership in the technological and digital fields. At a ceremony organized by the United Nations virtually as part of the annual forum honoring distinguished figures in public service, the win was announced.

Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, the head of the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), said that the award shows the leadership's unlimited support, as well as the empowerment and guidance of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Chairman of SDAIA's Board of Directors, and his full support of SDAIA's various initiatives to enhance government collaboration to make the most of data and AI.

As Al-Ghamdi noted, Tawakkalna's experience of being launched for the first time at the beginning of the Corona pandemic, along with all the stages it went through, confirms the professionalism of Saudi young men and women who are responsible for all the achievements at the system level.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and a number of government agencies during the imposed ban period, Tawakkalna was launched to aid government efforts against Covid-19. It served to manage the process of granting permits electronically during the curfew for government workers and individuals.

The application launched important services during the Cautious return stage that contributed to a safe return, especially displaying the health status of users with the highest levels of security and privacy.

Tawakkalna began to offer pandemic related services such as verifying health conditions and health passports, providing corona test and vaccine services, reviewing travel health requirements, and obtaining the necessary travel permits.

With a view to leveraging advanced technologies, enhancing digital transformation, and reaching Saudi Vision 2030 goals, SDAIA recently launched Tawakkalna services, which is a digitally enabled application that facilitates many aspects of the daily lives of citizens, residents and visitors by providing various e-services in one place.

An annual award for distinguished worldwide innovations in the area of public service was launched by the United Nations in 2003.
