Supreme Court Declares Saturday The First Day Of The New Hijri Year

Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court announced Thursday that Saturday, July 30, would mark the beginning of the new Hijri year of 1444, according to the Umm al-Qura calendar.
As the crescent of Muharram was not sighted on Thursday, tomorrow, Friday, will be the 30th day of Dhul-Hijjah 1443, which corresponds to July 29.
As a result, Ashura fasting on Muharram 10 will take place on Monday, August 8.
