The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) reported that Saudi Arabia's inflation rose to 2.3% in June 2022.

A measure of inflation is the change in the cost of living between a current period and a previous period.

Consumer price index (CPI) increased by 4.4% year-over-year (YoY), with food and beverage prices rising 4.4% and transport prices increasing 6.2%.

In the CPI, 490 items are included in a fixed basket of goods and services. Based on the 2018 Household Expenditure and Income Survey, these items were chosen.

Field visits to points of sale (POS) are used to collect prices.

The Authority also reported that the prices of 17 goods and services in Saudi Arabia decreased year-on-year (YoY) in June 2022, while the prices of 145 goods and services rose.

Local potatoes recorded the highest increase by 52.96% YoY among the 91 food products. YoY, local tomatoes increased by 41.82%.

In June, prices for 36 construction materials increased YoY, while one product declined.

Over the past month, 11 fodder and livestock products have increased in price YoY.

Nine items under this category saw an increase, and one item saw a decrease.
