Saudi authorities detained over 21,000 individuals in a large-scale operation targeting violations of residency, labor, and border security laws. Conducted in collaboration with multiple government agencies, the week-long effort underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to enforcing its laws and safeguarding its borders.
Sweeping Arrests in Week-long Operations
The joint field operations, conducted from November 7, led to the arrest of 21,267 violators, including:
- 11,607 for residency law violations
- 5,285 for breaching border regulations
- 3,232 for labor law infractions
Among those detained were 1,401 individuals attempting illegal entry into Saudi Arabia. The breakdown of nationalities revealed:
- 39% Yemeni nationals
- 60% Ethiopian nationals
- 1% from other countries
Additionally, 98 individuals were arrested for attempting to exit the country unlawfully.
Facilitators and Legal Actions
Authorities also apprehended six individuals accused of aiding violators by offering transportation, shelter, or employment.
- Violators, including 18,508 men and 2,759 women, are undergoing legal proceedings.
- 13,354 detainees have been referred to their diplomatic missions for travel documents, while 3,096 are finalizing departure arrangements.
- So far, 10,458 violators have been deported.
Severe Penalties for Lawbreakers
The Ministry of Interior warned that individuals found facilitating illegal entry or harboring violators face severe penalties:
- Up to 15 years in prison
- Fines up to SR 1 million
- Confiscation of vehicles or properties used in such activities
Reporting Violations
Citizens and residents are urged to report law violations through the following hotlines:
- 911 for Mecca, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province
- 999 and 996 for other regions
