Major Security Operation Unveiled
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of 22,993 individuals across various regions for violating residency, border security, and labour laws during a large-scale security campaign between October 3 and October 9.
Breakdown of Violations and Arrests
- Residency law violations: 14,269 individuals
- Border security violations: 5,230 individuals
- Labour law violations: 3,494 individuals
Illegal Border Crossings and Deportation Efforts
The Ministry reported that 1,378 individuals were caught attempting to cross into the Kingdom illegally, with the majority being Yemeni and Ethiopian nationals. Additionally, 80 individuals were arrested for attempting to exit the Kingdom without authorization.
A total of 19 people were detained for providing aid to violators, such as offering transportation, shelter, or employment.
Legal Proceedings and Deportation
Out of the total arrests, 15,136 expatriates—13,520 men and 1,616 women—are undergoing legal proceedings. The Ministry also revealed the following actions:
- 7,211 violators referred to their diplomatic missions for documentation.
- 2,381 individuals in the process of making travel arrangements.
- 11,907 individuals have been deported.
Severe Penalties for Violators and Facilitators
Saudi authorities issued a warning that individuals found facilitating illegal entry or harboring violators could face harsh penalties, including:
- Up to 15 years in prison.
- Fines up to SR1 million.
- Confiscation of vehicles and properties used in aiding violators.
