A total of SR243 million has been allocated by Saudi Arabia to cover the rents of over 14,000 families living in demolished neighbourhoods in Jeddah, according to local media.

Over 14,000 families in Jeddah slums have been paid rent since the redevelopment project started in October 2021, according to the Jeddah Slums Committee.

As part of its free services, the Saudi government provides interim housing and rent payment to residents whose slums were demolished.

In order to empower its citizens, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to provide them with job opportunities, adding that it has hired roughly 213 male and female individuals living in neighbourhoods who are enrolled in social security systems.

According to Saudi Arabia, 28 neighborhoods have been removed, while the removal of Al Montazahat, Quwaizah, Al Adl and Al Fadl, Umm Al Salam and Kilo 14 Al Shamali (North Kilo 14) is expected to be complete by October.
