Domestic transportation companies have been ordered not to place "VIP" stickers on buses used by pilgrims during Hajj by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
Okaz newspaper reported that the ministry instructed domestic Hajj companies not to overbook buses with pilgrims.
Licensed buses should also obtain a permit for entry to holy sites and undergo periodic inspections to ensure their safety. Under no circumstances will buses be rented from outside the kingdom.
Furthermore, the ministry warned against using buses for domestic transport of passengers between cities or within holy sites, urging service providers to only use them for pilgrimage purposes.
Furthermore, the ministry announced that all old buses with high exhaust emissions would be seized at the entry points to Mecca.
Exhaust emissions will be checked by the traffic police and violating buses and vehicles will be seized or penalized.
