Parents Cannot Be Forced To Buy Uniforms From A Specific Store By Schools
Category: Education

According to Saudi Arabia's Consumer Protection Association (CPA), schools do not have the right to force parents to purchase uniforms from a specific store.

The CPA statement states that schools may only provide parents with the design and colour of the uniform, stressing that parents have a right to buy the uniform from any store they choose.

Additionally, the CPA reported monitoring a parent's complaint against a school that forced students' parents to buy school uniforms at a specific store for a high price.

Should parents notice any such practices by schools, they are encouraged to file a complaint with the Consumer Service Centre.

It has also been announced that the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education intends to merge the Holy Quran and Islamic studies into one subject, "The Holy Quran and Islamic Studies", in elementary and middle schools.

It has been decided to reduce the new subject's weekly classes from 34 to 15 in the intermediate level, and from 38 to 30 in the elementary level.

After the summer break, Saudi Arabian schools will reopen on August 28.
