It was confirmed that the automatic monitoring system detects violations of non-Saudi vehicle registration plates by the General Directorate of Traffic (Muroor).
Following traffic instructions is necessary to avoid being exposed to traffic violations recorded by the monitoring system on vehicles with non-Saudi plates.
Additionally, it urged adherence to traffic instructions and regulations in the Kingdom to ensure road users' safety.
Fines for speeding violations range from SR150 to SR2,000 according to the Traffic Law. According to the speed limit on each road and highway as well as the category of vehicle, the penalties vary.
Speeding violations are punishable by fines under the Traffic Law. When the speed limit is 120 km/h or less, the fines are as follows:
* Exceeding by more than 10-20 kilometer per hour - SR150 minimum and SR300 maximum;
* Eexceeding by more than 20-30 km/h - SR 300 minimum, SR 500 maximum; • exceeding by more than 30-40 km/h - SR 800 minimum, SR 1,000 maximum;
* Exceeding 40-50 km/h - SR1,200 minimum, SR1,500 maximum;
* Exceeding by more than 50 km/h - minimum SR1,500, maximum SR2,000.
* If the speed limit is 140 km/h, the fines are as follows:
* More than 5-10 km/h - minimum SR300 and maximum SR500;
* Exceeding 10-20 km/h - SR800 minimum, SR1,000 maximum;
* SR1,200 minimum, SR1,500 maximum; exceeding 20-30 km/h;
* More than 30 km/h - minimum SR1,500, maximum SR2,000.
