Immigrants Held Over Dubious Meat In Riyadh
Category: Crime News

As part of a crackdown against hygiene violations, Saudi authorities arrested several illegal foreign workers accused of dealing in meat of unknown origin in the capital Riyadh, local media reported.

A raid led by 14 governmental agencies on a rooftop site used by the suspects to conduct their unhealthy business was shown on Saudi television Al Ekhbariya.

Prior to their planned marketing at restaurants, the report featured meat products unfit for human consumption.

Abdullah Abu Eid, a liaison officer, told television that the seized meat would be destroyed completely and right away.

There was no specific number of those arrested.

Over 870 kilograms of rotten sheep guts from the city of Taif in western Saudi Arabia were destroyed last week by municipal authorities.
