Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has arrived in Seoul on Wedneday for the first leg of his official trip to South Korea and Japan.
The Crown Prince was welcomed by South Korean President Moon Jae-in who earlier sent an invitation, and whose visit was based on the directives of King Salman, the royal court said in a statement carried by state news agency SPA.

He met with the president and a number of officials to discuss bilateral relations and issues of common interest.

Bilateral trade between the two countries reached $30.2 billion in 2018, an increase of 22.4 percent compared to 2017, SPA reported. Korea's exports to the Kingdom include cars, spare parts, electronic goods, steel and textiles.

Saudi Arabia is also the largest oil exporter to South Korea, accounting for around 30 percent of South Korea's total oil imports.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture, Prince Badr Al-Saud, also signed agreements with his South Korean counterpart.

The crown prince will also head to Japan after Korea to head the Kingdom’s delegation at the G20 summit in Osaka on Friday and Saturday.
During his visit to Japan, the crown prince is expected to meet with several heads of states and senior officials, among them Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Kremlin.
