US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia John P. Abizaid on Tuesday highlighted the special role economic engagement plays in the longstanding partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia.

Addressing members of the American Business Group of Riyadh (ABGR) in the capital, the ambassador said: “For more than 75 years, US companies have been working with Saudi counterparts to advance prosperity in both countries.”

“The relationship has been strong and mutually beneficial, and today trade between our two countries amounts to than $48 billion annually. My goal is to work with US and Saudi business leaders to strengthen our ties and take advantage of new opportunities for trade and investment being generated under Vision 2030.”

The ambassador highlighted the ambition represented by Saudi Arabia’s 2030. “We want the United States to be the partner of choice in realizing this vision, and I will continue to encourage the Saudi Arabian government to foster an environment that facilitates investment, trade, and economic cooperation.”

ABGR membership is comprised of US citizens, US company employees (both American and non-American), and representatives of Saudi Arabian-owned organizations actively involved in promoting US products or services.
