Zatca Clarifies Conditions For Purchasing And Importing Vehicles From Abroad
Category: Saudi Arabia

Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) of Saudi Arabia clarified in a statement the conditions regarding buying a car overseas and bringing it into the country.

There are certain conditions to be aware of when buying a car from abroad, according to ZATCA.

It is crucial to know the year the car was manufactured, as cars manufactured before 2017 are not allowed to enter Saudi Arabia.

Also, the vehicle must meet Saudi specifications and standards, as well as meet fuel economy standards.

Customs duties will be imposed at the rate of 5% of the vehicle's value if the vehicle is imported into Saudi Arabia after its purchase.

Along with the customs duties, ZATCA added a value-added tax of 15% to the total value of the vehicle.

When asked about the possibility of buying a car in Bahrain and transporting it to Saudi Arabia, the authority revealed the information.

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) can confirm the car's specifications, ZATCA said.
