According to his father, the condition of a boy who was attacked by nine stray dogs is stable.

On Monday, stray dogs attacked Saif Al-Yami in Khafji, a northeastern Saudi city bordering Kuwait.

Al-Yami, whose skull and body were bitten multiple times, underwent surgery at Qatif Central Hospital, his father told Okaz/Saudi Gazette.

Several minutes before the call for Maghrib prayer at a playground, 200 meters from his home, stray dogs attacked the boy. Initially, he was taken to a hospital in Al-Khafji, and then transferred to Al-Qatif Central Hospital for urgent surgery.

"My son is in good health now," the father said.

A dog bite scene called the "Company Playground" has become a breeding ground for stray and predatory dogs that have been attacking children, women, and men for several months. Al-Yami's uncle said the dogs attacked a neighbor's child six months ago but he didn't get hurt.

Saudi Animal Welfare Society and the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs issued an order in September 2018 to stop using poisonous bait to kill stray animals, including dogs found in residential areas.
