The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) in Saudi Arabia will launch the fifth edition of Riyadh Season on 12th October 2024, marking its fifth version in the Saudi capital city.
Key Highlights of Riyadh Season 2024
According to GEA Chairman Turki Al-Sheikh, the Riyadh Season 2024 will feature 10 festivals and exhibitions, 14 entertainment sections, and 11 global championships.
Event Details and New Zones
The 5th Riyadh Season will cover an area of 7.2 million square meters, involving 4,200 contracts and 2,100 firms, with approximately 95% of them being local. Al-Sheikh also announced a new zone called the Venue Zone, spanning 9,425 square meters, with a capacity to hold around 8,000 people and seven events already scheduled.
Boulevard Runway and Other New Features
The Riyadh Season Tennis Cup is a significant event in the upcoming season, with 70% of the tournaments taking place in the Boulevard City region. The new "Boulevard Runway" zone, a collaboration between the show and Saudi Airlines, will utilize unused planes and feature three sectors with a capacity of 9,000 and an area of approximately 140,000 square meters.
Collaborations and Major Events
Riyadh Season is partnering with famous designer Elie Saab for a major event targeting both customers and the fashion industry. The Joy Awards will also see double the attendance compared to last year. Additionally, Boulevard City will feature one of the largest real-life historical dinosaur replicas.
Winter Garden and Other Attractions
The Winter Garden, a must-visit spot, will offer more space and adventures with 15 distinct stores across half a million square meters, accommodating 23,000 people. The zoo, covering 116,000 square meters, will host 12,000 visitors and feature nine different cultures with a variety of activities, theaters, and performances.
Ticketing and Anti-Black Market Measures
The General Entertainment Authority has taken measures to combat the black market for tickets, setting up a dedicated squad within the WeBook app. The report revealed that over 3 million transactions were analyzed, resulting in the disabling of 8 black market platforms, blocking 13,000 tickets, and taking action against 5,000 suspect accounts. Al-Sheikh emphasized that the WeBook app is the only official way to purchase tickets and warned against using illegal marketplaces.
Enhancements and Subscription Packages
The Riyadh Season will feature new subscription packages for all-season access through the WeBook platform, an online store, and an enhanced ticket buying process. Four packages Riyadh Season, Silver, Black, and Diamond—were introduced as part of the authority's biggest announcement.
