Restaurant Closed For Preparing Samosas In Toilets For More Than 30 Years In Saudi Arabia
Category: Crime News

Saudi Arabia has reportedly shut down a restaurant in Jeddah after discovering that it had been preparing samosas and other snacks in toilets for more than 30 years, local media reported.

In response to a tip-off, Jeddah Municipality raided a 'restaurant' in a residential building that had been operating for more than 30 years. The workers did not have health cards and were in violation of residency laws.

The restaurant used to prepare snacks and meals in the washrooms, Okaz newspaper reported. In addition, some of the meat, chicken, and cheese were more than two years old. It was also home to many insects and rodents.

According to the municipality, several illegal restaurants have been closed and more than a ton of food has been confiscated and destroyed.

The Shawarma restaurant in Jeddah was forced to close in January after a rat was spotted feasting on meat on top of a skewer.

Social media users were outraged when they saw the shocking video clip showing a rat on a shawarma skewer at a famous restaurant in Al Baghdadiah neighbourhood. They called on authorities to enforce strict sanctions against the restaurant. According to Aajel, the authorities sealed the restaurant quickly.
