Ramadan Will Run For 30 Days This Year, While Eid Al-Fitr Will Be On 2nd May

Dr. Khaled AL-Zaqaq, a Meteorologist, explains that the moon will disappear approximately 20 minutes before sunset on 30th April, and it will not be seen until four hours after sunset, which is at 11:28 PM on Saturday.

As a result, Ramadan will be complete 30 days this year, and Monday, 2nd May 2022, will be the first day of Eid Al-Fitr in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said Al-Zaqaq during a program on Al-Arabiya.

As announced by the International Astronomy Center in UAE, Monday, 2nd May will be the first day of Eid Al-Fitr in most countries, and Saturday, 29th Ramadan the crescent of Shawwal will be observed.

He is the director of the International Astronomy Center. Eng.Muhammad Shwakat Odeh said that countries which started Ramadan from 3rd April included Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Brunei, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran, Oman, Jordan, Morocco, and Ghana. On 1st May, which is 29th Ramadan for them, they will investigate the moon.

This crescent will not be visible on Sunday (1st May) from any country in Australia or its environs. It can only be observed with a telescope from central and western Asia, most of Europe, and Southern Africa.

The crescent can be seen with the naked eye with difficulty from African countries except for the south, from western Europe, from the north of the American continent, and from central South America. On that day, the crescent will be visible with the naked eye from the United States and Central America.

The majority of countries will investigate the crescent on Sunday and announce the duration of Ramadan will be 29 days and that May 2nd will be Eid Al-Fitr.

For countries such as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, Eid Al-Fitr is expected to fall on Tuesday, which is 3rd May 2022.
