Ramadan 2025 in Saudi Arabia: When Does It Begin?

Muslims worldwide eagerly anticipate the arrival of Ramadan 2025, a sacred month dedicated to fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection. This year, according to astronomical calculations, the first day of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia is expected to fall on Saturday, March 1, 2025, aligning with the 1446 AH Hijri calendar.

Crescent Moon Sighting for Ramadan 2025

To confirm the start date of Ramadan, Islamic Fatwa Houses and observatories will conduct a crescent moon sighting on the evening of Shaaban 29, 1446 AH (February 28, 2025). If the moon is visible, Ramadan will begin the following day; otherwise, it will start on March 2, 2025.

Astronomers predict that the crescent will be visible in the sky above Cairo for 37 minutes and over Makkah for 33 minutes after sunset on February 28, 2025.

Ramadan 1446 Fasting Hours in Saudi Arabia and Other Arab Nations

Fasting durations will vary across Arab and Islamic nations. During the early days of Ramadan 2025, Muslims in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait will fast for approximately 13 hours. However, as the month progresses, fasting hours will gradually increase to around 14 hours by the end of Ramadan.
