The Traffic Department in Saudi Arabia clarified the procedure for non-payment of traffic fines following the warning to pay them, indicating that the violator will be referred to the competent court to consider suspending his services.
The Traffic department stated that Article (75) of the Traffic Law, Paragraph (3), states that, The violator must be notified by any means if violations accumulate on him and amounted to 20,000 riyals or more, or 6 months have passed from the date of his notification and the violator did not paid. It is reported that the payment must be made within 30 days.
- If the violator does not pay, he shall be referred to the competent court, to consider suspending his services until all the violation fines are paid.
- This came in response to a citizen’s question about the consequences of non-payment of fines within the 30 days period of receiving the warning.
- Earlier, the traffic police revealed that the system imposed an annual fine in the event that the vehicle's driver's license was not renewed on time, and after the expiration of the 60 days period, a fine of 100 riyals would be imposed on the violator for each year.
