The official spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce in Saudi Arabia, Abdulrahman Al-Hussein has warned the consumers against the unknown online e-stores and accounts.

Al-Hussein highlighted the need for consumers to be wary of shopping from fake and anonymous accounts that market fraudulent and counterfeit products and promote fake ads, as their aim is to defraud shoppers.

- Al-Hussein called on all electronic stores registered on the “Maroof” platform to get the commercial register or the document of the independent worker for practitioners in order to ensure the continuity of documenting their stores on the platform.

- He stressed that the Ministry of Commerce allows stores that have a commercial registry to register on the “Maroof” platform after updating the policies and procedures of the registration process, stating that, stores that do not have a commercial registry will not be able to work legally until extracting the self-employment document through the freelance platform of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

- The intention of the Ministry of Commerce’s decisions are to improve the reliability of e-commerce, develop its activities, motivate stores to expand, as well as to remove unidentified stores and to protect and preserve the rights of the merchant and consumer.

- The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce called for the importance of people’s cooperation to report violations of electronic stores through the application of “Receive a Commercial Complaint - Report” or through the Consumer Contact Center of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry 1900 or through the official website of the Ministry of Commerce, in addition to the “Maroof” platform for the stores already registered in it.
