Sheikh Abdullatif Al Al-Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, denied reports that loudspeakers would be allowed in mosques during the holy month of Ramadan.
Al Al-Sheikh stated that what has been circulated in this regard on social media platforms is inaccurate and unfounded.
In mosques, it will be sufficient to raise the first and second prayer calls (adhan and iqama) through external loudspeakers at an average volume.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance asked mosque employees to continue to adhere to the circulars that stipulated that only external loudspeakers should be used for adhan and iqama.
In addition, the ministry has decided that the maximum permissible intensity level of the internal sound system in mosques should not exceed one-third of the maximum level of the loudspeaker.
