MHRSD Imposes A Fee On Individuals Exceeding The Domestic Worker Limit

According to MHRSD (Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development) in Saudi Arabia, the Council of Ministers imposed a compensation on individuals who had more than the specified number of domestic workers, which is four for Saudis and two for expats.

The Ministry clarified that individuals who exceed the limit of domestic workers will be liable to pay 9,600 riyals per additional employee.

The exceptions will be in some cases like humanitarian situations that take more than the permissible limit, medical situations and situations involving special needs people, as per the controls and requirements set by the committee.

- The ministry explained that this decision will apply to a limited segment of the population in two phases.

* It will begin with the first phase of the decision on 10/21/1443, which will apply to those who have more than 4 domestic workers for Saudi nationals and more than 2 for residents, and it will continue through the second phase.

* The second phase will begin on 10/21/1444 AH, for new and existing domestic employees exceeding four employees for Saudis and two for residents.
