Hajj Pilgrimages Will Be Dominated By Foreign Pilgrims This Year In Terms Of Percentage And Share
Category: Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia's Hajj and Umrah Ministry spokesperson, Hisham Saeed, announced that the largest percentage of pilgrims during this Hajj season 2022 (1443 AH) will be from overseas, and this year all countries participating without exception.

According to him, the decision to include pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia in the largest percentage is due to the fact that they were not able to perform the Hajj pilgrimage rituals during the past two years due to the Corona pandemic, he told Al-Arabiya TV.

Saeed stated that the Kingdom welcomes all Muslims who wish to perform Hajj from everywhere in the world, stating that no country will be excluded from performing Hajj, provided that the 3 doses of Corona vaccine are completed.

The allocation of quotas and pilgrims to different countries is determined according to the principle of proportion, with a ration of one pilgrim per thousand of the population, with the Kingdom working to set these quotas.

- The holy sites in Makkah have time and legal restrictions that require performing the rituals of Hajj at a specific time and place, which is why this principle will be followed in setting the quotas, following the completion of health conditions.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced earlier this year that one million pilgrims will perform Hajj rituals this year, including both domestic and international pilgrims.

The Hajj pilgrimage is open to those under 65 years of age who have received vaccinations approved against Covid-19 by the Ministry of Health. Within 72 hours of departure to the Kingdom, pilgrims from abroad must submit a negative PCR test result for Covid-19.
