Five Penalties Are Imposed On Those Who Trade Harmful Food Items - Public Prosecution

The Saudi Public Prosecution warned against deliberately circulating harmful, adulterated, or prohibited foodstuffs, whether raw, fresh, processed, or semi-processed, stating 5 penalties including imprisonment for up to 10 years would be imposed on them.

During the stages of the food chain until it reaches the consumer, food is everything that is prepared for human consumption, whether it is raw, fresh, processed or semi-processed, and practices regarding its safety are among the major crimes that should be arrested.

As per the Saudi Public Prosecution, it is a crime to cause the circulation of harmful, altered, or prohibited foods, and sanctions for such crimes are as follows.

* Up to 10 years in prison.

* Up to 10 million riyals in fines.

* Inhibits the violator from conducting any food business.

* After investigation and prosecution, publication of the final judgment at the expense of the convict.

* The license has been revoked.
