According To The E-Government Development Index, Saudi Arabia Ranks 31st In The World

Saudi Arabia achieved its highest historical result in the e-government development index issued by the United Nations since its launch more than 20 years ago, ranking 31st this year (2022) compared to 43rd in the year 2020.

This year, Saudi Arabia achieved 32nd place with an 82% rate in the first sub-index of e-services among 193 countries.

- The results of the index were announced on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and it is widely recognized as the most important international indicator that measures the development of digital governments in terms of electronic services, communication, infrastructure, and human capital.

In his remarks on this, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of the Digital Government Authority, Eng.Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince for the support and empowerment provided by the Kingdom's government to advance the transformation process.

By launching many initiatives and products to serve the beneficiaries, the government departments were able to achieve leaps in the index due to the efforts of the government departments.

While serving as the Governor of the Digital Government Authority, Eng.Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Suwayan expressed his pride in the achievement achieved by the Kingdom, appreciating the care and follow-up that the digital government enjoyed through the executive programs of Saudi Vision 2030. Through many reforms that enhanced the quality of life for individuals, improved competitiveness for companies, and enhanced the efficiency of government work, the kingdom has achieved development in all development areas to serve the human being, including transformation programs and digital projects, which contributed to the Kingdom's rise in the index.

With 100% of government data available and shared to citizens and businesses, Saudi Arabia ranked among the top countries in the world in providing information about government services.

In addition, the report celebrated the maturity of government digital organizations at 96%, the quality of digital specifications for government services at 94%, and the availability and spread of digital government services at 81%.

In terms of participation and e-consultation with individuals and business sectors regarding legislation and regulations with economic and social impacts, the Kingdom ranked 23.

- The report praised Saudi Arabia's exceptional performance in all areas of e-government development, as it was the most advanced among similar countries economically and socially, and Riyadh ranked 4th in the world in the use of technology and its applications within the very high range among 193 cities around the world in using technology and its applications.
