The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has announced that regulations for issuing the approval permitting businesses to function round-the-clock have been completed. This is being carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

In addition, preparation of the rules for workers to continue working beyond the usual business hours have been prepared by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, in line with the Council of Ministers’ decision No. 647.

The ministry said owners of businesses fulfilling the conditions can submit applications at the mayoralties and municipalities under whose jurisdiction their businesses come, in terms of location, so that they can begin their 24-hour business activity starting January 1.

Economists believe that the decision on round-the-clock opening of shops meets the need to enhance life during night, commensurate with the weather requirements, especially with high temperatures during the summer.

The pointed out that the decision contributes to the multiplication of the movement of markets and stimulate interaction between citizens and residents and allow more freedom to exercise lifestyles for all.

While the country is working to reduce the unemployment rate from 11.6% to 7% by expanding the empowerment of young people to work, supporting entrepreneurs, establishing large projects, increasing private sector participation and building partnerships, the decision will create new job opportunities for citizens.
