A devastating incident during an Umrah trip took the lives of renowned Saudi Consultant Medical Oncologist, Dr. Jaem Al Shabahi, and four family members, sending shockwaves through the community.

The fatal accident, resulting in 13 casualties, unfolded near Al Muzahmiyya when an Asian truck driver, traveling in the wrong direction, collided with Dr. Al Shabahi's vehicle.

Dr. Al Shabahi, a father of eight, was not only respected for his medical expertise but also for fostering religious education within his family. His commitment inspired his wife and five children to memorize the Quran.

Reports indicate that the tragedy was caused by the reckless actions of a minivan driver violating traffic rules. The collision claimed the lives of Dr. Al Shabahi and his children Arwa (21), Fadl (12), Ahmed (8), and Jana (5). Doaa (15) is in intensive care, Mohammad (18) sustained minor injuries, while miraculously, his wife survived without harm.

Dr. Mushabab Ali Al Asiri, a colleague, expressed profound sorrow over the loss. Dr. Al Shabahi was remembered as a beacon of scientific knowledge, moral integrity, and exceptional patient care, known for his devout commitment to prayer.

"We pray to God Almighty for forgiveness and mercy upon him and his family, extending our heartfelt condolences to his wife, family, loved ones, colleagues, students, and patients," Dr. Al Asiri said.
