The justice ministry has introduced a special electronic service that will enable,search for the nearest mazoun (marriage official), according to a report in local daily Al-Madina on Sunday.
The ministry has uploaded on the electronic site the name of the nearest mazoun, his name, his telephone number, the city and the district in which he lives so as to enable people wishing to tie the knot reach him easily.
The ministry said it will now be possible for citizens and expatriates to reach the mazoun nearest to them quickly and easily.
It said there will be mazouns for Saudi citizens and others for the expatriates each according to his speciality.
The department of the mazuons in the ministry is having a complete registry of all the marriage officials in all parts of the Kingdom so that the people wishing to conduct their marriage contracts can pick up the mazouns of their choice.
The department is responsible for granting and renewing licenses for the marriage officials and follow up their work.
In order to have the license, the mazoun should be a Saudi national, not less than 25 years old and with a university degree in Shariah. He should have a clean criminal sheet and should not have been sentenced for any crime of dishonesty.
