In just two weeks since the Riyadh Parking project trial run began, over 60 solar-powered parking payment terminals and more than 180 guidance panels have been installed, with 2,000 public parking spaces set to revolutionize the city's traffic management.
Major Expansion of Parking Solutions in Riyadh
The Riyadh Region Mayoralty has successfully installed over 60 solar-powered parking payment machines and more than 180 guidance panels. The initiative includes over 2,000 public parking spaces on commercial streets and more than 17,000 unpaid parking spaces in residential neighborhoods near paid public parking areas. The official launch is set for next month.
Smart Parking Technology for Residents and Visitors
Throughout the trial phase, the Riyadh Parking project website attracted over 500,000 visits, while the mobile application, accessible on both iOS and Android platforms, registered more than 7,000 users. The app offers multiple digital payment options to simplify the process for both residents and visitors.
Enhancing Quality of Life and Reducing Traffic Issues
The project seeks to improve the quality of life by organizing public parking and implementing smart solutions to reduce improper and random parking. This makes it easier for residents and visitors to locate available parking spaces efficiently.
Support for Residential Neighborhoods
Parking areas in residential neighborhoods are designed to protect residents by reducing traffic from vehicles bypassing paid parking lots. The Riyadh Parking app identifies local vehicles, offering residential licenses to safeguard the right to unpaid parking spaces.
Future Rollout and Fee System
The Riyadh Mayoralty has waived parking fees during the trial phase, but the hourly parking fee system will be implemented in paid public parking areas starting next month. The app will also support various payment methods, including cash payment devices and online transactions, to enhance the user experience.
Additional Features and Neighborhoods Covered
A new feature gives car owners a 15-minute grace period before activating their parking duration. The initial phase covers 12 regions, including neighborhoods like Al-Wurood, Al-Rahmaniyah, Gharb AlUlya, Al-Morouj, King Fahd, and Al-Sulaymaniyah, along with four additional areas in southern Riyadh.
