Saudi Arabia said that it views the truce announced by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi militia positively and called on “all Yemenis” to stand against Iranian interference in the country.
“The truce announced in Yemen is perceived positively by the Kingdom, as this is what it has always sought, and hopes it will be implemented effectively,” Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman wrote on Twitter.
Prince Khalid also accused Iran of exploiting the situation in Yemen and “evading responsibility for their terrorist acts.”
He also accused Iran of using Yemen “to further its own interests” and said Yemenis should “stand up along with us” against Iran.
The Houthis claimed responsibility for attacks on Sept. 14 against two key Saudi Aramco oil installations in Abqaiq and Khurais.
Riyadh and Washington, however, blamed Iran for the attacks, a charge denied by Tehran.
