In the southern Asir region, a pilot and his companion were rescued after their plane crashed off the coast of Al-Huraidah.
Aviation Investigation Bureau (AIB), an affiliate of General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), said the HZ-SAL plane belonged to the Aviation Club of Al-Huraidah.
The accident occurred at 15:38 on Friday, Aug. 5, approximately 30 meters from the airstrip of the Aviation Club in Al-Huraidah, according to AIB's Twitter account.
Border Guards rescued the pilot and his escort. Asir Central Hospital in Abha treated the two minor injuries. Seawater was used to remove the severely damaged plane.
AIB confirmed that it immediately began investigating the accident's actual causes.
During takeoff, the plane lost its balance and fell into the waters of the Red Sea coast in the central Al-Huraidah region, according to a video clip.
